What is Annie’s Country Pantry About?

 Annie’s Country Pantry in Racine, WI, is a distinctive business. With over 175 recipes of jams, jellies, salsas, pickled items, sauces and pie fillings.   Running the flavor gamut of simple strawberry jam in low sugar or no sugar or a regular jam or more than 70 different flavors.  The road travels to butters with combinations of apple, pear, pumpkin and peach; with vairients of those in "Drunken" flavors also.  They produce numerous flavors of Pepper Wine jellies which make  the simple "sweet and savory."  Imagine a pot of spaghetti sauce "pop" by adding sweet and savory, or a block of cream cheese married with a pepperwine jelly and a box of crackers always brings a charcuterie board to life.

Annie boasts a few recipes more often seen in the South, but absolutely loved by her customers with favorites being pickled watermelon, to a Cha Cha recipe her customers say is the best they've ever experienced over a bed of greens to the Northerners "cha-kraut" resting easily on a brat....flavors and their regions know no bounds at Annie's.  Whatever you do tho, when you head for the salsa you'll be shown a typical Mexicana to a "Tootie Fruity" salsa filled with Peaches and Pineapple, ranging from Mild, Medium,  Hot and the Bomb-which has 22 different peppers in it....or something simple yet complex a Black Bean and Corn none can compare to.

But, whatever you do, dont miss the  store's favorite, adorned with a royal name by a loyal patron as "Liquid Gold" the "Pineapple Habanero Sauce"  changes a piece of meat into a "destination."   Our favorites are chicken and pork on the grill as a basting sauce, carmelized perfectly is heavenly.  So it's raining....a crockpot with pulled chicken or pork and the Pineapple Habanero Sauce makes a beautiful sandwhich or a meal over rice.   We've known the Yatch Club to pour the sauce over a brick of cream cheese for a sweet and savory appetizer.  Of course, we would be remiss if we did not mention that Mr. LeRoy Butler, Green Bay Packer Hall of Famer has followed us over the years and recently offered us a Baseball Cap from Katt Construction (Katt and Butler join up for a hefty partnership to support local endeavors raising funds to support our local community.  In LeRoy's words, "The sauce is Awesome."   

Annie was blessed to have learned how to can at a young age.  Many of the recipes Annie has are "heirloom" recipes which boast over 130 years of existence dating back to her Great Grandmother and perhaps further than that story goes.   "Those recipes have fed generations...and, should she have the ability to continue, it's Annie's dream to teach her grandchildren this valuable skill of 'self reliance.' "   

Annie and Ron have many recipes which are held in place by their Will, and  these will be handed down to their grandchildren in order that more familial generations  will hold them into the future.  Customers will always find something that will suit their taste.

Annie’s passion for creating these recipes started during her youth in 1972, when she began to learn from her grandmother Lena. One of the most incredible memories dates to 1972, when Annie realized that food was not always presentation, it wasnt always in the best "raw materials" rather it was in the LOVE that it was made and served in..."yes, love poured out of that small 6 inch cast iron pan every morning....a simple egg, a piece of bread with homemade jam and a tall glass of fresh cows milk began my passion," says annie.

At Annie’s Pantry, customers can find natural food, local honey, homemade salsas, gluten-free and dairy-free products, and vegan options. You can also purchase old-fashioned candy and the best chocolates in town, produced by David Bradley Chocolatiers and John Kelly.    One of our most prized facts is that we strive to make the "cleanest" food available on the market.  WE  do not use additives or preservatives.  EVER!
